Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father—John 14:8-9.
For in Christ all the fullness of the Godhead lives in bodily form—Colossians 2:9.
Discussion: These passages contradict the doctrine of the Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity was made up by men at the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE. It is a logical contradiction that can’t be understood. The doctrine of the Trinity asserts that God is three persons, each independent of the other and each equally God. The three persons are Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three persons have one essence. So the claim is that three are one. This is a logical contradiction as one and three are different numbers and are not identical or equal to one another. Since this doctrine can’t be understood, the church states that it must be believed on faith. But it doesn’t have to be believed. Jesus’ words are very clear. “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” And the apostle Paul also states that the Godhead lives in the body of Jesus. One person. The relationship between the Father and the Son is as soul and body. The Holy Spirit is God’s outflowing healing love and enlightening wisdom. “In Christ all the fullness of the Godhead lives in bodily form” (Colossians 2:9).
